Rekindling Romance at Numie Wilderness Retreat Tasmania

honour your connection...

A Culinary and Nature Retreat for Couples

Sometimes the best way to reconnect with each other and the world around you, is to take some time out, and step back into the solitude of nature. My husband and I recently had the pleasure of doing just that at Numie in Coles Bay, Tasmania—a place that feels like it was designed to remind you of the simple luxury of slowing down.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Numie is more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. The property is meticulously curated, with every detail carefully thought out to ensure that couples can focus on what really matters: each other. We felt the world melt away as we settled into our tranquil abode, surrounded by the untamed beauty of Tasmania’s east coast.

One of the highlights of our stay was the opportunity to indulge in fire cooking. There’s something so primal and satisfying about preparing a meal over an open flame, and Numie provides the perfect setup for it with the outdoor wood fire grill and pizza oven . As the fire crackled and the sun dipped below the horizon, we cooked, laughed, and created some cherished memories. We also had the privilege of hosting a private chef, Chris from What Grows, who crafted a four-course meal that was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish was a celebration of local ingredients, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. It was an intimate, gourmet experience that added a touch of luxury to our stay and I highly recommend this experience for the foodie at heart!

Our adventure didn’t end there. We took a day to explore Bicheno, a charming coastal town just a short drive away. Our destination was Waubs Harbour Distillery, where we indulged in a whisky tasting. The distillery itself is steeped in history and character, and each sip of whisky was a journey through the rich, complex flavors that Tasmania’s pristine environment brings out in its spirits.

As our time at Numie came to an end, we left feeling more connected than ever—to each other, to the land, and to the spirit of exploration that brought us there in the first place. It’s a place where time slows down, where the pressures of daily life fall away, and where you can simply be present with the one you love.

If you’re a couple who loves travel, great food, and the idea of eloping in a place that truly feels like a retreat from the world, Numie in Coles Bay should be at the top of your list. They even have three Glamping bell tents available on the property (plus some luxury cocoons with private hot tubs coming soon!), all meticulously styled with that Numie touch. And if you’re considering taking the plunge and eloping here, reach out to my friends over at Wilderness Weddings to help you bring your dream Tassie elopement to life!
