Nothing beats the feeling of stillness

To sit alone, amongst a beautiful landscape, with nothing but your thoughts. Perched above a Valley, a Fjord, a Canyon or a City, and you start to slow your mind. You revel in all of your senses as you mindfully close your eyes. You take in everything around you. The smell in the air, the sound of the wind gently making its way through this foreign land, the feeling of the sun or snow as it melts in to your skin. A s you take in the sound of your own breathe once more, and begin to open your eyes, you realise you are truly at one with this magnificent Universe.

I can sit static among a landscape for what feels like hours. Watching the light and the tones of the landscape change in every passing minute. Connecting with the Earth and honouring the traditional custodians and ancestors of the land while silently paying my respects and asking for permission to tread gently here. Imagining the many lifetimes they had experienced there and feeling so much gratitude for our magnificent planet. I’m not sure if any of that translates in any of my images - but for me, it’s a more intentional and respectful way of creating while honouring the people that walked the land before me.
